Malwarebytes Pro

I presently have the free version of Malwarebyes installed and run a full scan about once a month. The reason I don't run it more often is that it takes about 2 hours for the full scan on just one of my hard drives. Double that if I have both hard drives connected.

My question is: I have access to Malwarebytes Pro and want to know if it will prevent malware from getting on my pc and if it will do a better job of finding and removing malware from my pc than the free version.

FWIW: I have the pro version of Malwarebytes and It also takes a while to do a deep scan of my hard disks.
It is well worth the price as it allows you to start it when your computer turns on. The free version is not self starting and you have to specifically run it each time.

You won't save time with the pro version but it is a warm fuzzy.

The pro version has real time protection but it is not a replacement for an AV. Instead it complements it by blocking dodgy sites and using heuristic algorithms to identify potentially malicious software. In addition you have the ability to schedule updates and scans to run in the background. It is well worth the price.

The only difference I'm aware of is the real-time scanning. To me, it isn't worth it, because that's what your AV software package is there to do. Malwarebytes, to me, is perfectly suited to be a second opinion, as a passive scanner. I run it once a month or so to make sure my AV software is doing it's job. I wouldn't want two apps running at the same time to handle real-time scanning, but to each his/her own.

It's still another real-time scanner. To me, that's just overlap and redundancy (not in a good way, unlike most redundancy). This thread is the first I've ever seen where it's suggested to run the Pro version.

You can also transfer the license to a different PC.
So if you get a new PC, you can transfer the license to that PC.
Also, it's is good for all OS's on ONE PC (nice if you multi-boot).

I was browsing the MBAM forum and found you can buy Malwarebytes Pro from Walmart for $17.29 USD right now
I didn't even know they sold MBAM, and that is a good everyday price.

i just clicked the Walmart/Mbam link and now the price is $19.71 - go figure
online, you should be able to check in store stock.
also, from what i know the in store price can be different than the online price.

I run Ms security Essentials as it's free, I also use Malwarebytes Pro and I've found that Malwarebytes finds thing far more efficiently. The deep scan feature is a must and run it more than once a month I would say but then again it depends how surfing you do I suppose!

All in all a must have!

One thing I may have missed but the PRO version also will caution you when you go to a site that is risky.

At Christmastime last year, Newegg offered MBAM for $13 shipped. I bought a few and kept one for myself. You might look around. I have 5 licenses.
