Many BSoDs and Issues After Factory Reset

I'll be doing the memtest then.

When I try to install the memtest into a USB Flash drive, the installer doesn't have the drive name the USB drive is in(Local disk J: ). It has F:,G:,H:, and I: but no J:.

Ok I should have been a bit more specific and unfortunately I am on my laptop so as Britton says the PSU section is in a block on it's own as it is the board sensor readout.

Now I am guessing here too that the stick is no good if it is not being recognised as a drive?? Personally I prefer a disk to boot the memtest from as I am not a fan of sticks for this sort of stuff.

Maybe you can try this route instead.

Ok now do you have a stick with something on it? if so insert it and it should show up as a drive - with a letter. So then you know that it is the port you insert the stick to put the bootable memtest on.
When you download the memtest you should get a pop up message saying Run / Save / Save as
pick Save as and then pick Computer > then click on the letter drive you have just tried with that stick. You should have an empty stick showing there you then hit Save. The download should not take more than a few seconds as the application is quite small in size.

I'm confused. The installer still did not show the option for my USB Flash Drive still (J: ). I did save it into my Flash Drive

Hmm I am bit confused now too so what is actually showing when youclick on Computer? I looked up the board and it shows at least four USB ports and I am guessing you must have a couple on the front panel.

My main machine at home shows any of several USB and card ports when they are in use and I am wondering if the USB stick you put the memtest on is no good. Do you have access to another machine and insert that stick and see if it has anything on it? If the memtest is there then there is something amiss with the board.

I will try to install the memtest on my brother's computer into the Flash drive. Let's hope his computer will recognize the Drive correctly and sort the Drivers out.

It seems very strange that the stick is showing up as that J: drive. I am running out of ideas to be honest.

So did you manage to put that stick in another machine? it would be very useful to know if that stick is recognised in another machine.

The alternative I think I mentioned before re a disk instead may be the only option left.

The USB stick is showing as a hard drive because San Disk did a dumb thing and made 1000's of them to show up as a fixed drive and it can't be changed.

F doesn't mean Flash, it's Windows way of naming them. I had one of the San Disk USB sticks showing as a fixed drive and I sent it back. I'd recommend getting a different one. In the meantime you can put memtest on a CD/R as John said.

I actually found out after some Googling. I guess I'll be using a DVD then.
