Today I scanned something and went to My Documents to rename it. There had been 128 files added today and 1607 added yesterday. I have no idea what these files are. I checked and hidden files are not being displayed. I'm running a full virus scan on my computer. How did this happen, what are they and how do I get rid of them?

Thank you!

Sure looks like malware.

What Anti-virus software do you use. When it's done, download and run Malwarebytes Anti Malware free too.

Scroll down a bit to download the free version. Let it update then do a full scan.

I use AVG. The scan detected one medium risk executable file which it removed. I will download the Malware program you recommended. Thank you so much!

What did you scan? What file format did you configure for the scan and what type/ make/ model scanner?
Did it really take over an hour for the scan files to finish being generated?

Thank you!
"My Documents" is just an alias for "Documents".
When you click to the right of "My Documents" in the address bar...
..."My Documents" turns to "Documents"
Microsoft did that just to confuse us :-)
Libraries are another fun thing to learn about.

Are the files shown in your first screenshot also in your "My Documents" folder?
