Massive Memory leak in sidebar build 7068

Hi guys, I'm new here and would like some help :)

In both build 7048 and 7068 I have massive memory leakage going on in the gadget sidebar, and can't solve the problem aside from restarting the process to clear the memory.

Is MS aware of this? And is there a fix in newer builds? Otherwise, any useful advice?

Well, one way to find out is try out build 7077. Google it and clean install, see if you have the same problems. Other than that, do you get any recorded events in the Event Viewer that may give more details on the problem? What gadgets are you running, and have you ran them one by one to see if it may just be a certain gadget doing this?

I'm running the calendar gadget, clock gadget, a ping gadget, calculator gadget, and a system stats tracker (CPU, Ram usage etc)

So far no one gadget seems to claim the memory issue, however I should give it a day or two to fully test it.

As for a reinstall, I'd prefer to wait for the much anticipated RC to make my next upgrade :)

Thanks though... anyone else have any ideas?

I never ran builds 7042 nor 7062 - I *did* run 7048 and 7068, and I saw no leaking in 7068 (didn't use gadgets in 7048).

Just using 2 gadgets i've noticed a slight performance decrease but nothing major.Makes me wonder though if i added a few more how it would be.

It's not that I "feel" a difference.. even with the leak I barely broke 6 gigs of active RAM. But something as simple as the sidebar shouldn't take up 2 gigs of RAM regardless of whether I feel a difference or not ;)

Hi Gamer 2006, if it is using 2 gigs of ram,why dont you turn them off ,and see if gives you back your 2 gigs, and if it does, try and install from another source, similar gadgets, and see if there is a difference.

I do remove all the gadgets and it gives me back all my RAM, however removing them in any given order doesn't return the RAM at different rates. It is only when I fully close the sidebar that I get my RAM back.

At this point I am trying day-to-day testing for each gadget to see if it is one gadget in particular or if it is just the sidebar process as I have theorized.

Well as I said this leak occurs (and becomes exponentially worse) when a computer is running for more than 36-48 hours consecutively. So while it doesn't look bad when you start it up it gets pretty bad in time.
