In all the years I have used Windows, I don't think I have run into an issue such as this, but here's the situation:

I have 2 Windows Home Servers on my network as well as my Windows 7 laptop. The servers, a & b, will do their updates automatically as default and restart themselves (I think) to apply the updates. My ASUS will usually download these updates and wait for me to shut down the system before applying the updates. However, the recent updates that were released for this month are causing me a lot of grief. The updates for Office 2010 installed fine on my ASUS and server-a. However, the updates that are giving me issues are:

Asus:
  • Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based systems
  • Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64
  • Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 - May 2013
  • Definition Update for Windows Defender (Definition 1.151.280.0)

On server-a:
  • Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64
  • Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 - May 2013
  • Definition Update for Windows Defender (Definition 1.151.280.0)

Ironically, server-b installed and processed all updates just fine so I don't understand why I am having so many issues here. I read some different articles online and some suggested disabling your security, turning off UAC, and such which I tried, but still did not help. :(

Any suggestions or anyone else having the same problem?
