media center on xbox 360 connectivity issues

I currently have an xbox 360 connected by gigabit cable to a linksys DIR-628, which I then connect to by 802.11 mixed N and a wireless from my laptop. When go to tune my network, what I see, is a continuously, and very predictably oscillating graph which--about once a second--goes up to way above what's acceptable for HDTV, and then below what's acceptable for TV. I changed the frequency of my router so as to not conflict with my neighbors routers which are all in the neighborhood of 2.4ghz. I put mine at 5 ghz. Before doing, the graph was much less regular and had a lower average value. Any ideas as to how I can get a signal which is continuously sufficient for HDTV signal are greatly appreciated in advance.

Are you able to test the connection with cables (no wireless) just to make sure it is the wireless that is the issue?

I agree with the above to test. I have seen issues where it doesn't like having the HTPC on wireless. It seems ok if the HTPC is hardwired and the extender is wireless, but not vice versa.

Thank you very much for replying.I actually figured it out last night. It turns out the issue was that I was using mixed N and A, so the router was alternating between the two. When I changed it to just straight N, the network tuner test came back with the result "Your Bandwidth is Acceptable." In the past I've used a setup that was only wired with cat5 cables and never got performance that was up to par out of it. Never could figure out why. Thank you again

Thats odd, i have a fully wired network (Cat 5e) and have no issues, only thing i can think of is maybe a slower 10mb devise slowing the network? only guessing though.
