Media Center PC rebooting while interacting with extender

Hello,

I have a Media Center PC which has Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, i7-860 processor, Ceton Infinitv pcie, EVGA GT430 graphics, Corsair SSD for OS and WD Green 2tb for recordings etc. I am also using a Ceton Echo extender in my home.

The pc somewhat consistently reboots itself when I begin to interact with the extender. For instance, when I bring up the guide and start to scroll through the channel list, or go to Recorded TV to find a show to watch. I am not sure if this has anything to do specifically with Media Center and it's communication with the extender, or if it just happens to be that this activity presents a load on the pc which causes the reboot. In the past, I have also had issues with the pc rebooting at times, especially when under a load. For instance if Media Center is open and also trying to convert a video file using various conversion applications simultaneously.

I have run MemTest 86 for 8+ hours with no errors and replaced the PSU. The problem is still happening.

The PC runs quite reliably if just using media center to watch live or recorded tv. Anyone have ideas about what I should check next? Maybe video card getting too hot??

Thanks

Had the same problem with the Echo, come to find out it was my network switch. I changed it and never had the problem again. Their technical help finally admitted they have some "issues" with certain network switches. I bought a Netgear to replace the Cisco and that was it.

I have seen it bluescreen recently also. Says something about ataport.sys. One other curious thing is that sometimes on startup it goes into the Windows automatic repair mode as if it can't find the boot files or something. Usually if I just restart it, it boots fine. I am wondering if there is a problem with my boot drive. It is a 64GB Crucial SSD.

are you talking about the Ceton Echo extender or your computer. My Ceton Echo was causing my media PC to reboot every time I went from live TV to Home. Not sure we are talking about the same thing.

restarting randomly now...

I'm still having the issue. The PC seems to be restating randomly now, without interacting with the echo extender. Last time it did this a blue screen happened on restart that talked about the bios not being fully acpi compliant. (stop code 0x00000A5) This blue screen did not appear until after the PC restarted. Not sure this is very helpful, because it may be a side effect of shutting down in an abrupt way.

Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks

I don't think we have the same problem. My problems were happening when the Echo extender was sending instructions back to the MC computer. The Cisco switch was distorting the data and forcing a reboot of the computer. Changed my switch to a Netgear and that solved my problems. Yours sound like a corrupt system file or motherboard hardware malfunction. Can't help you in that area.
