Media monkey problems (error code 53006)

Hi all,

Is there anybody that has (or had) the same problems I'm having.

After having burnt 200+ CD using Media Monkey, without any problems, this suddenly stopped.
I am used to use the option "test and burn", together with [disc-at-once].

What happens is that the test - simulation takes about 6 to 8 mins.
When that's complete it tries to start the actual burn proces.
The time indication gives an estimated time of (the last time) 1100 mins.
Then the mesage
"
Illegal request:, error code 53006
"
appears, and the CD gets ejected.

I have tried all possible option (off/on), e.g. "on the fly audio burning"


Is there anybody that had similar problems, and if so, how did you solve that.

I have completely re-installed Windows 7 (64b), used a new copy of Media Monkey, nothing helped.

What to do?

I use an older version of Media Monkey, but only for mp3 playback, not burning discs.

My offhand opinion would be to not fight it and to instead find another burning program. I certainly would not have reinstalled Windows in an attempt to solve the problem.

Are you locked into Media Monkey as a burner for some reason? If you are committed to it, I'd guess that the Media Monkey forums would be your best place for advice.

I use ImgBurn for all burning operations. CDBurnerXP is another decent choice.

Using another programm is an option I have tried (CDBurnerXP )

The result was that my CD player couldn't read the CD. It kept searching for I don't know what (bleep bleep bleep sounds).

I am not stuck to MediaMonkey, but because, before the troubles started, I could burn without any problems, and other programms give the same cause for concern (I am afraid that corrupt CD's may damage my expensive CD player), I am trying to find a solution for MediaMonkey

If you have completely reinstalled Windows and it did not help------and you have tried another burning application and it did not help-----I would start to think about a hardware problem.

Do you have any other CD/DVD drive you can swap into the computer---or perhaps an entirely different computer you can try?

Have you tried a different brand or batch of blank disks?

Can you successfully burn a simple data disk---for instance one containing a bunch of pictures?

I have tried many things, including burning a DVD with the 4 of the albums I would like to burn on CD (sort of a backup) and this works.
I have also tried to burn a cd with a different CD brand (Verbatim in stead of the usual Maxell) with the now familiar outcome.

I have replaced the CD/DVD burner 2 month ago with a new one (brand: LG).

Have you tried bypassing the "test and burn" process and instead going directly to burn, without testing?

You say you replaced the burner 2 months ago. If it worked OK until very recently, can you go back to the old burner?

Have you done a complete reinstallation of the burner or attempted to use some other driver for it?

I'm about out of ideas.

To confirm--can you or can't you burn a simple CD of pictures?

Have you run sfc /scannow at a command prompt?

Have you pounded on Google for LG-specific issues?

Thanks you for all your good advise.
I have tried many things, nothing worked, so I have come to accept that maybe it is my computer that's the problem.

What I'm doing right now is burn all my music to DVD's (± 10 CD on 1 DVD), store it for now, buy a new computer if the budget is right and try again.
