Have you changed any settings in msconfig? Where you set the number of processors in the boot options. If you change the amount of maximum memory, it can cause problems like this.

If you are still having problems, check BIOS for manual/vendor tweaks on ram/cpu/bus and set them to auto/default. I would also check ram/bus timing with CPUID to be sure all ram chips are working ok.
