At least I have more RAM than I previously did and it runs straight away at 1600MHz without any tinkering - maybe the Corsair stuff is faulty

The ram can be tested if proper instruction are followed.
It normally takes over night to run the test. Sometimes longer.
In order to fix computer their are exact tests to be done. It's not a hit and miss thing to do.

These test work very well when instructions are followed.
When one does these test their can't be anything else done on the computer.
