Memory installed 4 x 1GB = 4GB But Only 2876GB on POST

I have an Asus P4P800 SE MB, where I had 4 x 512KB installed. On POST RAM Check it showed the proper total of 2048GB. I just replaced the 4 available banks of 512KB to 1GB each which should now total 4GB. However on the POST RAM check, it only runs to a total of 2,876GB instead of the 4GB.

I ran the Windows 7 Memory Tool on the Dual Boot screen, running 2 passes with no errors. On my Belarc and CPU-Z applications, it shows the 4 banks of 1GB each, however again the total memory on these is only 2876GB.

The MB manual states that with full 4GB of ram loaded I will only get 3.5GB of ram, however not only 2.876GB.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit, with AMI BIOS, just upgraded to it's latest version 1011. Can anyone advise what might be wrong, or any setting I have missed that would open up the balance of total RAM?

You're using a 32-bit OS . For you to see 4GBs you would need to install Windows 7 64-bit . If you need the 64-bit ISO please take a look at the link below . Step 1 and you would need Step 2 to create a bootable USB Flash Drive or a DVD disc

Have you enabled the memory remap feature in your BIOS?

2.876Gigs is a weird number to wind up with . I'd reseat your RAM sticks and check the labels just to be sure on sizes, of course with no power to the system when you do this and ground yourself to the case before grabbing them by the edges ONLY.

Hit CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to bring up Task Manager, and go to Performance Tab, what does it show there as total RAM in the box at the bottom left, not the active RAM, I have 8gigs and using under 3gigs MOST of the time.
