I had 4x 1GB DDR2 6400 chips. Just swapped out 2 of them for 2GB DDR2 6400 chips. Task manager performance used to show 4 GB of memory, It now shows 3GB. I should have a total of 6GB now. I'm confused. Think I did the install right according to the board manual. Positions are:
Channel A DIMM 0 = 1MB
Channel A DIMM 1 = 2MB
Channel B DIMM 0 = 1MB
Channel B DIMM 1 = 2MB
These are placed on an Intel D975XBX2 Motherboard.
When I first booted after making the change, I got a message about the memory not being matched, and that it would lower my performance. No beeping though.
Any ideas what I might have done wrong?
