Hi. I am hoping you can help with an issue I am having with memory in my sons PC. It does not seem to be running as good since I installed 16gig of memory.

Motherboard - ASUSTeK Computer INC. M5A78L-M/USB3
Processor - AMD FX-4100 @ 3.60 GHz

It had 1 4gig stick of Kingston KVR1333D3N9 but I have upgraded to 16gig 4x4gig of Corsair Vengeance 1866MHz DDR3 Blue CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9B.

OK. When I was looking into this upgrade I read somewhere that if you have an AMD FX processor then this board will manage the 1866Mhz modules.

When I run tests I get a third of that speed. (If I am reading it right)

Geekbench 2 - Memory -Memory Performance 3595
Stream -Memory Bandwidth Performance 3727

CPU-Z - DRAM Frequency 669.7Mhz (IS THIS WHAT SHOULD BE READING 1866Mhz??)
NB Frequency 2009.1

Is this the wrong memory fr this board? There are no drivers for memory are there?!?

Thanks in advance.

CPUz is showing it running at 1333. The ram is DDR (double data rate) you double the figure you see in CPUz. Does your bios allow you to set the frequency, voltage and timings? Please Post a screenshot of CPUz showing the memory tab and the SPD tab.

I'm unfamiliar with current AMD systems, but on the Intel side, motherboards seem to run fast DDR3 at the 1333MHz rate by default. To get the rated frequency, the BIOS needs to be set to use XMP or the RAM frequency and timings must be set manually. (I always use the manual settings.)
