messed up reboot win 7 update reboot

hi guys,need help ,
thanks in advance , i purchased this win 7 prof. about 4 weeks ago and i still have not got to run it .i installed it on a new hd 150 gb hd. went in just fine setup a few things user accounts went to activate setup my usb ,in house wireless adp. from locak wi-fi .downloaded mail setup worked fine ,shut it down . it started loading win updates .message [do not turn computer off. durong update. ] when i rebooted it went into startup repair . it couldn't repair itself .i tried sys recovery from restore point. it said it wasn;t there . which i did create one . just so happened i did make a image file . used it to restore.next down load ,same thing .
i did severial clean installs, made copies of image files, but every time i down load any file that requires a reboot .right back into startup repair can not use it for anything . just goes around and around . can any one help . i have tried everything found on the inter net ,and most all of it does the same thing if it requires a reboot, ready to go mad .even tried safe mode ,and last good known startup.nothing works but .image file.

You are trying to tell us that Windows 7 Pro installs FINE, but after updates gets hosed, then don't do the updates.

Mail setup, what are you talking about? I mean exactly what.... the web addresses, names of the software, etc.

Details details details, and you might was to proofread that post, it is typo ridden and very unclear.

hi again ,

i don't download updates ! yes this is what i am doing now .i did a download of 2 anti virus programs installed each 1 at a time at different times . and when rebooted . i had to reload image file startup repair it will not repair it ,it just will not go into windows . let me just say that anything that i do download except a couple of drivers, that did reboot successfully. but! anything else that requries a reboot to be able to run, programs or updates crashes, and goes into startup repair again .which will not recognize any system restore points . i have tried up to at least 5 restore points in the same repair .and it only excepts the image disk to restore . i have shut down updates a couple times and when i turn off and back on some how it turnes itself back on .
if i do dot notice it when i shut down it will go into update install .i just cannot seem to win with this system i have ordered a new video card with 512 mb memory and try that . i have replaced everything else . any suggestions would help thanks . sorry i took so long to get back i had to find out how to repost .

p. s. what do you call a fresh install i have formatted the disk to a raw drive ,deleted all but the 1 partion and reinstalled how do you do a fresh install am i right or wrong. thanks again!

the mail is msessentials only the mail part this will let me setup my regular mail from peoplepc. it install just fine,no trouble .
also i do use pc matic to scan for virus

What do you mean that you don't download Updates? If you don't have Win7 fullly Updated with all Important and Optional Windows Updates - except for Bingware or any that you know for sure you don't need (e.g. for IE10 when you have IE11) - then you don't have Windows 7. You have an un-patched mess.

well thats the way i feel about it .if you can't download update, its not win 7, but like i said if i do download updates ,and it asks to reboot win 7 crashes, and will not reboot in to windows without a image file. it does somthing to the reboot files

In this case use the System Restore point which every Updates batch sets before installing, from the Disk System Recovery Options.

Now Check for Updates again and first install any drivers under Important and Optional.

Then install smaller groups starting with Important, maybe 5 at a time.

If any group fails, System Restore again and install them singly until you isolate the failing Update, report it back here.

Often just doing this avoids any further failure, probably because the load is smaller to choke on.

Check also the Start Menu's Shutdown button for an "!" mark indicating there are Updates needing installed before it can continue. This can cause them to stall.

Perhaps the machine is faulty (i.e. HDD, RAM, etc.).

Have you checked that all of the cables, cards and RAM are properly connected/seated?

How old is the HDD (it's been a long time since I've seen a new 150 GB HDD)?

hi thanks for message,
its been here for a while but never opened until i got the win 7 disks. mem ,or ram 3 gb just purchased and the computer with the old hd ,and 512 mbs ram. ran xp pro. for years everything else seems to run great .

Sometimes connector conductors seem to "glaze" over.
Removing and reseating the components seems to fix that issue.

If you do decide to remove and reseat the components:
Remember to disconnect the power (from the mains outlet) and to use anti-static precautions.
