Solved Met Office desk-top widget

Hello Folks. Does anyone know why my Met' Office desk-top widget has stopped connecting and claims there is no internet available? I've tried uninstalling it and re-installing it, and I've looked on the Met's site for news/info or new versions but there is now nothing to be found other than their offering the one for a web-site. The one on my Android phone works fine, and I was not aware that the PC version was malfunctioning for some time due to the availability of my phone version. Cheers, KF

I know that the Met office have recently gone through a major re-think on their App offerings, so this could be part of the rationalisation,
The whole Desktop Widgets concept and its support has been dropped on all Microsoft platforms for some time due to security concerns.
The recent re-launch of the Met Office Phone Apps could have meant that they just didn't bother to continue the support for the depreciated technology and shut down the web links at their end.

I find it a little unusual that they did not let users know because they were posting notices on My phone when the old app was replaced with the new recently, but it could be that the app for the desktop was actually killed off some time ago and that the site was only taken down during the recent re-organisation

Yes, thank-you for that. I had a feeling we were looking at something of that sort. I'll keep this thread open for now in case someone has additional info. Ultimately, it's not a major concern, as access is always available on the PC via the Met's primary home-page, but it was a useful little widget and seemed outside of the old MS widget security concerns - but perhaps not. Cheers.

This is the response I got from the Met Office:
The Desktop Widget is no longer available for download and has been retired due to a decrease in users with customers now preferring to obtain a weather forecast via one of our mobile applications which grow in popularity by the day.
That's that then.
