I just talked my wife into allowing me to update her XP desktop with Win 7 64 bit. She fought me with everything she had until this week to prevent the upgrade. I've been running win 7 on my notebook since the beta release. Her desktop has a Asus P5B-E mother board. My question is this....win 7 64 bit did install successfully on the P5B-E platform, it took some device manager tweaking to the system to completely shutdown (fans remained running after win 7 closed. However.....
I have not updated the motherboard in years. Tonight while searching for Win 7 mother board utilities, i.e., audio, lan and such I noticed there are some vista utilities that are 64 bit for the P5B-E....there are now win 7 specific upgrades for this series mother board. Will updating with the vista 64 bit files hurt, help or do nothing?
The following P5B-E bios updates include Lan, audio, chipset, and bios all for 64 bit vista. The motherboard was originally set up for XP 32 bit
Thanks in advance
