Hi everyone,

I've noticed with Windows 7, the mic volume seems to be very low. I've cranked it up to max volume already. If I use mic boost, the sound quality becomes ****.

Currently using Realtek HD Audio Manager and Steelseries 5H headset. (If it matters, I'm using the lines, no usb)

Hi, don't know if this will apply to your situation but I was having what I thought were mic problems and ultimately figured out that my mic doesn't appear to work well for VOIP apps when I'm using utorrent to do what utorrent does. If I pause utorrent, the mic starts working normally again.

I am also having the same problem with the built in mike on my cam, it worked fine on XP but not on 7. Have managed to get another wired mike to work, but would like to find a solution.

Try doing this and check the two variables on the right. Use the DVD quality settings also like in the second picture.

doesn't work for me :(

Tried it, mic volume still absurdly low. Have to yell at 100 mic volume to even be heard.

Didn't work for me either, sadly. I just started fighting with my mic problem again now that I got the new motherboard and psu in to fix my freezing problem.

It's really the last obstacle in my way for having the system running perfectly. :(

Other than the Windows settings most of the problems are mostly just about the drivers.

I'm pretty sure the situation will improve after the launch of Windows 7.

Hopefully it is just a driver issue. I know it's not my microphone (it works perfectly on my old XP Pro system), but has the issue on my netbook (XP Home, but with Realtek HD audio) as it does on my Windows 7 system (7 Ultimate x64).

Still, I can't really use my microphone for much other than voice recording videos for youtube until I get my connection sorted out, so there's still time for them to make a reliable driver. I'm just afraid it's that the integrated audio on my board is going to end up being junky for handling mic inputs.
