Hi all,

I really need your help as I am having a hard time with format on micro sd card. I've tried to format it through on my computer > micro sd card but it say that windows was unable to complete format the format. I've tried to use each different file system but it still wont let me because the file system is RAW. I've tried on diskpart and select the disk to format it but it would not let me to delete and format it.

I've tried every program especially minitool partition wizard, easeus partition master, diskinternals, sdformatter and usb disk storage formatter as they won't format it. I've found out that the file system is write protected so i wont be able to delete, remove or format.

I've looking on disk management and there is no hidden partition. The file system is RAW and the file system size is 31mb which it should be 128gb. I've found that the capacity and the volume used the size as incorrect. I dont know if the partition, MBR, volume or filesystem is corrupted.

Do you know what application I could use to boot it to find hidden partition, repair the partition, MBR, the filesystem and so on??

I've also tried chkdsk to repair the sectors but it say "The type of the file system is RAW.
CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives.". And I've also tried to plugged the micro sd card onto my smart phone, but i can only see is mount, not format.

I don't really know what to do now, so I really need your help.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Are you using the microSD card in an SD card slot with an adapter? If so, this problem can happen if the WRITE PROTECT switch has been set in the locked position, preventing the microSD card from being written. Remove it and slide the switch to the unlocked position.

Raw means there are no partitions so you can't format until you create a partition

Yes I am using microSD card in a SD card slot with USB. There is no write protect switch on the USB pen and on the microSD as I have checked it.

I cant create the partition because the volume capacity is 31mb so not enough to create it.

I guess there is something wrong with the sectors that tell wrong capacity size?

If so, do you know what tools I could use to check if there is bad sectors to repair it?

I need hiren boot cd tool to run it to fix the issue.

First, what is the manufacture of the SD card? Second, how old is it and was there lots of data written to it?

To remove the read only attribute use diskpart.

In command type,

Code:
diskpart

Now,

Code:
list disk

You'll see a list of disks.

Enter,

Code:
select disk #

Replace the # with the number for the disk. Then enter,

Code:
attributes disk clear read-only

If successful, trying formatting with diskpart again.

The name of the micro SD card is called SanDisk.

I've tried to remove the write protection through on diskpart, but it doesn't work.

Is that sound like I have a bad microSD?

It's possible, but you didn't answer my other question. Was this SD card used a lot? Flash storage does have finite storage limits.

Are you using some kind of SD card drive adapter to do this?

I had the same problem with my Camera SD card.

Place the SD card in your camera, choose options, go from there.

I had the same problem with my Camera SD card.

What camera do you have?

It wont fit in my camera as i need a big sd card to fit in. I have got a smart phone called Huawei P Smart 2019 that can fit in but i cant format it as it wont let me. What i can only see is the mount button nothing is else.

I've already tried sd formatter and it said the format is failed.

And I've already tried to remove the write protection through on diskpart as it removed it but i cant format or create a partition. I've checked on the registry but i dont have StorageDevicePolicies so i dont know what to do.

I've already installed AOMEI Partition Assistant but it is the same as the other applications that I have tried so far :(

Your MicroSD card is most probably a fake one or a damaged one. A new MicroSD Card will need no formatting . One could straight away use it (unless it came with exFAT and you wanted it to be NTFS) . Return it to the vendor and get back your money. And for one month you didn't even bother to check it?? Strange.

Yeah it looks like a damaged one. I bought it on Amazon and it come with 2 years warranty so I'm going to return it to get my money back. I supposed to use it after I bought it but I was busy doing something else.

So when I receive a new micros card, if the file system is exfat, how can I change it to fat32 without damage the file system?
