Microphone problem

Hi everyone,
I have a built in microphone in my laptop but when i call someone through messenger the detector is not affected by voice while i am near to it & the person talking to me says that voice is heard as if i am 5 meters of laptop.
where i dont have sound card driver which is conexant high definition smartaudio 221 on amilo si2636.

Please help.

try looking for the drivers on the connexant website because your computer might be using the plug and play driver which is very generic and might not include the feature that makes it sound loud and on the microphone properties check to see your microphone boost is set to off if it is off turn it on because that sometimes happens on laptops because the sensor is so small
