Microsoft issues emergency patch for all versions of Windows

I see kb3078071 is mandatory to install the security update... is this a safe thing to install or it has some kind of spying tool?
Sorry for asking, I dunno if I'm being too paranoid or not...

This article ID kb3078071 is the cumulative IE Update from the Patch Tuesday August 11, 2015. You should received aswell the article ID kb3087985 which is the emergency patch for IE dated August 18, 2015.

I'm finding "consent.exe" 6 times all in the C:\Windows\winsxs folder along with one consent.exe.mui in the same folder. No others any place else, I hope.

I'm resisting the urge to delete them for fear of problems that may arise.

Thanks for heads up on the latest spyware updates from M$.

I definitely wouldn't try deleting any consent.exe files, those relate to User Account Control and the secure desktop.
Whenever UAC pops up you'll see consent.exe briefly in your task manager

If they consent.exe me for a proper driver, i won't be too mad at MS doing that....

If MS don't "bloat up" or otherwise damage W7, how would they get people to adopt W10?

The same thing happened a few months before W8 was released.
My W7 boot times suddenly increased by ~50% - 60% (i.e. boot time went from 30s - 40s to 55s or longer).

Mine just came through along with five optional updates. One of the updates was for *&^%$ Silverlight. Why on Earth can't MS get it through their thick skulls that I don't need and, thus, do not want it the blasted thing. Two of the remaining four are related to spying and Win10 upgrade prep (forget those!), one is a time zone update for DST in other countries (I'll install it if and when I travel to another country, especially after the time zone update fiascos in the past) and the remaining one addresses a memory leak (which I will download and install Saturday, along with the important update, since I am having a problem with an elusive memory leak).

The only website that I have ever been on that used Silverlight was the Microsoft website. I think they're just hanging onto it desperately.

I've never used it but I've heard Netflix requires Silverlight to stream ?

Sky in the UK requires it to stream their Sky Go live TV programs on the computer.

I use my Blu-Ray player for Netflix and Hulu. Hulu I know streams via Flash through a browser(they have a select few shows that can be viewed free online, but not through your paid service via BD- then again, the one such show I did want to watch was put up on Youtube as well, LEGALLY by the rights holder, so I can watch it there without the ads), never tried Netflix though.
