Microsoft listened! nForce3 support!

Looks like Microsoft listened, because with the new 7048 Build they have windows drivers for nforce 3 chipsets, particularly the networking controller that we havent had support for. So glad they were able to get us a driver! Not sure if nvidia had anything to do with it since it was not off their site, it just recognized it and installed automatically.

So to anyone else that has avoided the beta, or is using a PCI Network card, now you can pull it out and use the native driver with the 7048 build.

There has been support for nforce 2 via win update in all builds i have used.

Im not sure why this is not included also, my radeon driver is no longer pre-release in 7048 and included.

Theyve supported some of the PCI, SATA, and other controllers but I dont think theyve had it for network controllers. And without being able to connect to the internet you cant get the win updates for it anyways. Unless you have a PCI NIC to add in temporarily.

Okay, so nForce3 based boards work within 7. That's awesome, but do ATI AGP cards work yet? I'm still running Windows 7, build 7100 with everything working perfectly...except my Powercolor HD 3850 and i've gotta say, these whack resolutions are killing me. I want my gaming back!

I did not realize the interface made a difference. My PowerColor PCIe HD3850 512 works fine.

From what i've been reading (including sevenforums and ati forums) indicate that as the problem for AMD dual core/AGP ATI GPU/nForce3 users like myself. I just got a post back in another forum on this site from 'torrentg'.. he said "If it is still giving problems because of chipset, in device manager under system devices, install the standard PCI-to-PCI bridge driver for the one that has AGP in the name, instead." So i'm gonna try that and hope for the best.

Hello,
did MS anywhere explicitly say there is NF3 support?
I could't find info on about this in the compatibility center.
For testing purposes I've installed W7 now on my old system.
The device manager doesn't come up with error messages
but I don't know if this already guarantees full compatibility.

I think this is fake. NForce 3 chipset never received Win7 driver.
