Microsoft reneges on 'unlimited' OneDrive storage promise for Office 365 subscribers.

A little over a year ago, Microsoft announced with great fanfare that all Office 365 subscribers would get 'unlimited' OneDrive storage. Tonight, months after an executive shakeup, the company says it has no intention of keeping those promises.

Scrooge McDuck is now in charge of Microsoft's consumer cloud division.

That's not literally true, of course, but a surprise announcement tonight from the division responsible for the consumer OneDrive service could easily have been written by Mr. McDuck. The new rules roll back a signature feature of the OneDrive service and renege on an extravagant promise that the company made just over a year ago.

Why should that surprise anyone. This isn't the first time MSpy lied to or screwed over its customers. Why MSpy thinks angering its customer base is going to improve sales is beyond me.

Just for info and possibly to avoid a U.S. ftc complaints Microsoft has to give a refund to some people

I think it should be a full refund but that just my opinion. At least, I never bought a subscription.

Another broken promise from a broken company. Why would any developer write software for Microsoft's "Walled Garden" Metro Tiled City when they keep moving the goal posts and the start and finish line. The company seems to lurch from one crazy idea to the next. I never used one drive or whatever it is called this week but prefer Dropbox. I have about 5GB and that is all free.

That One Drive free unlimited storage is like a bar offering free beer and then wonder why they loose money and run out beer all at the same time.

To me Microsoft, for what ever reason can't understand that most customers just want products they need and desire at a fair price. Just do that and stay away from all the gimmicks.

If new products can't stand on their own hind legs without giving them away, then fix the product so people want to buy them.

Yes,yes 2+2 needs to add up to 4 or something is broke; fix it.

Never actually used OneDrive even though I have a few different Hotmail accounts. Sometimes use Google drive for transferring unimportant files from one device to another but don't really store much on the cloud.
I'm sure this will annoy a few people though. Especially when they're being punished for something they haven't done.

All Governments around the world need to clamp down on deceptive marketing (i.e. start fining marketing companies and their clients billions of dollars for defrauding consumers).

The first thing they need to do is ban trademarking of common terms (e.g. "Foot Long" actually equals 11 inches, "Infinite Downloads" actually equals 1 GB).

There are supposed to be.

It is enforced so rarely that whenever any company actually gets fined ("slapped on the wrist") it is considered major news here.
