Download Free MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) from this link:
Download Microsoft Security Essentials from Official Microsoft Download Center

*SAVE* it to "downloads", do not select run! ... Right click on the download, once completed, right click and choose to run as Administrator. Let MSE update and scan your files.

It should automatically update itself, but if it doesn't, either manually update it or update through Windows Updates.

I didn't do that "Save to downloads"when I installed MSE, should I uninstall/reinstall?
The issue i'm having now is BSOD when trying to do full scan.

BTW, what is the difference between "Save to Downloads and Run as Administrator" and just clicking "Run". ]

Update! Got rid of BSOD (Blue Screen) when attempting full scan with Microsoft Security Essentials.
Deleted all files here:
C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\windows\recent\AutomaticDestinations\
One file was causing the BSOD, when I tried to open it with notepad almost locked up computer.
Maybe could have just deleted the one file.
I found where to look for the cause when I noticed MSE wasn't progressing and showed scanning: C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\windows
\recent\AutomaticDestinations\
AutomaticDestinations and CustomDestinations are Super Hidden, Have to type in Windows Explorer "C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\windows
\recent\AutomaticDestinations\" and "C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\CustomDestinations\" to view them.
I left all files in "CustomDestinations\".
Got a full scan with no BSOD.
