Microsoft starts rolling out new MSN homepage

Last November, Neowin reported that Microsoft was testing a new design for their MSN homepage. Today, Ars Technica makes known that Microsoft has finally begun rolling it out to users. The roll out will gradually make its way to 100 million US customers over the next few weeks. Microsoft is calling it the "most significant homepage redesign in over a decade." The redesign features a new butterfly logo as well as 30 updates based on loads of customer feedback.

Among the new features are:

TrendWatch - highlights of the day's top Twitter trends
Hyper-local Tweets - shows you tweets based on your location
My Cities - lets you save up to three cities to keep up with
MSN Local - enables the display of relevant local information
Hotmail - see your inbox on the MSN homepage

its about time it had an update, but to be fair... MSN is just the page you dont really look at when you start IE, i actually cant remember the last time i accessed it, being a FF user and all

I personally do not use the site, but its a lot more appealing then the original. Since its IE's default homepage, a lot more will start using it just because it looks more 2010 then the prior version.

Does anyone know how to get the new version to show up instead of the old one. The new one has been showing up then I deleted all my cookies and the old page starting showing up again. I prefer the new one. Thanks

Delete your browser cache. The old files are still loading.

Thanks guys but I have Bing as my homepage and when I click the MSN link at the top of the page it still brings me to the old one. The link provided did bring me to the new one, but I want the new one to show up when I click the link from Bing. Deleting the browser cache didn't work. Thanks

Well then they must be slowly releasing it or testing it on a select few, which would make sense. This is similar to how Google released the Gmail beta. When you visited Google.com in 2004, you would randomly receive a link underneath the search bar to sign up.

What is bothering me is that clicking the link on Bing was bringing me to the new version then I deleted my cookies and it has not done so since. Thanks

Probably want to see how it flies with users and what they need to tweak before a world-wide launch.

It's showing up for some but not others. This is completely normal when it comes to these kinds of things. It's actually the more responsible and professional method used by big corporations. Microsoft has really been on a roll, taking community feedback into consideration before releasing their final products.
