Hello Everyone

I have 2 USB wireless adapters, one is Alfa AWUS036H with Realtek chipset RTL8187L and the other is AWUS036NHR Realtek RTL8188RU Both adaptors are giving me hard time on a windows 7 64 bit installation whenever I try to enable the Microsoft Virtual Wi-Fi Miniport Adaptor on any of them. Any attempts to update or fiddle with the drivers on the Virtual adapter will immediately BSOD the system. I have installed and uninstalled the drivers and ccleaned after reboot at least 20 times but to no use. I have also tried several versions of drivers including the ones from Alfa (manufacturer) and the newest ones from Realtek.

Both adapters work fine in another windows 7 64 bit computer, which leads me to believe that they are conflicting with other drivers or devices installed in my computer and I have no idea how to find out. Unfortunately formatting the computer is not an option right now.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Thank you zigzag3143for the prompt replay. I only found one file in the minidump folder. I hope it’s helpful in determining the cause of the problem. If not then I’m willing to cause another BSOD and attach the dump files :).

This crash was blamed on amppal.sys, Intel® Centrino® Bluetooth 3.0 + High Speed Virtual Adapter. I would re-install the newest version.

How To Find Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

I'm working on it right now. I'll uninstall the Bluetooth driver and try again. But just to make sure I understood you correctly, the other old drivers are also part of the problem, or they are just old and need updating? Quick Google search came with many people who are also suffering from amppal.sys.
