I am using windows 7's software raid1. All of the 6 drives I have are on software raid 1.
Okay consider this scenario where your windows 7 installation becomes non-responsive. Weather that's due to some faulty USB device or Diablo II crashing or some other reason...
When system is not properly shut (or sometimes even after a restart), my reboot takes at minimum 25 minutes. I pretty much have to wait through staring at an endless non-responsive looking screen and checkdisk during this time.
What happens is all drives appear to become out of sync. And hence all drive read/writes are dedicated to restoring proper sync rather than booting up completely. It takes additional hours to completely sync the larger drives and until that happens I have a very serious performance loss.
I am unsure how to fix this. I want to have mirroring, I do not want to have downtime due to drive dying and me loosing my OS. I also do not want to spend 25 minutes on boot. Suggestions are welcome.
One way to solve this is to adjust how disk sync operates (if that is possible at all).
