I'm confused why its not called IME as in mine and where I've seen it before. Why would it not be named and how is the PCI Dev involved which are usually cards?
Archie advised not running it too which means its caused problems. It doesn't cause me problems but I want to test without it.
The PCI SCC is chip based hardware and includes firmware (and its own memory) similar to the BIOS. It can't be unplugged or removed. Intel says that you need to purchase a key to use it but I don't like the idea of even having the capability enabled on my PC. If there's a key, someone will eventually break the key. The "feature" can allow full control of a PC including power on and off. In fact, I recall reading that some processes can occur with the PC powered off--As long as it's plugged in.
I've only known it as Intel Management Engine Interface on the software and driver side. There was a thread a couple of weeks ago that someone posted a question on a new laptop about unknown OEM software. I looked it up and it uses the same IME interface. I forgot what it was called though.
Re try running HW Info so that we can see what network devices you have it will give us much more detail. HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < get the right bit version. See my pics for what I mean
