I have a WHS 2011 server that cannot update. According to the checkSUR log I an missing the following file winsxs\manifests\wow64_microsoft-windows-ie-htmlrendering_31bf3856ad364e35_9.4.8112.20554_none_92a2291542613f64.manifest. Through the registry I determined the file is associated with update kb2722913. I also found evidence that the file is located in that kb on the microsoft website. When I expand the update and look for the manifest file I cannot find it. I have usedwinrar, 7-zip, and the console command to expand and view the files. In fact there are no files in the kb that start with wow64. Does anyone have any idea where I can get this manifest and get the server back up and running. I was missing 2 manifests but I was able to get one manifest out of a different kb using the tutorial on SUR in these forums. I tried to uninstall kb23722913 and that failed. I also tried to reinstall the kb and that also did not work

I've uploaded a file - cfwaa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive
Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder cfwaa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be one folder inside it (Manifests, )

Copy the content of the Manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

I have also sent you the only reference to the missing file I could find on the internet, it is from the microsoft.com website. I searched the excel file for "kb" and the only kb in the entire file was to kb 2722913. The actual file I need was listed on row number 12920 on the spreadsheet

Ooops!
I seem to have sent a different version or the file to the one necessary (dyslexia lures again!)
Hold on while I check it out....

Ah! - got it....
File name cfwab.zip - same place, same procedure.

Sorry about that :(

Thanks, it worked like charm. I have attached the checksur.persist log. I genuinely appreciate the help. If you don't mind my asking where did you find the file. I spent eight futile hours searching the registry and the internet for clues. Was it in kb2722913 after all. I just installed several updates and they all went in. Thanks again

To be honest, I didn't look to see where it came from :)
I just checked, and yes, it's part of that update.

Glad I got it right that time!

good luck.

I don't understand why Microsoft doesn't maintain a data base of these files, or better yet have the SUR tool automatically download and install them. Is there a security issue?

CheckSUR will probably be updated to include them if there are enough instances of the files causing problems - it gets updated every couple of months (we're on version 26 at the moment).
If you ever try extracting CheckSUR fully, make sure you have lots of disk space - I gave up when it reached 3GB and looked like it had a way to go yet!
There are good reasons not to make all files downloadable freely - even if that does mean that various sites of ill repute take advantage by offering spurious 'downloads' of many.
