Monitor & Graphics Card Issue

I have 2x8GB sticks. Tried both of them on their own but there's still no display.

HazzaB, like Paul, I'm short on ideas. But, is there a way you could get into bios and check the PCIe slots and tell if the bios is detecting the card? Failing that, if you have another PC, put the card in it and see if it works there. If you don't have another PC, see if you have a friend who would help you and put the xard in their PC. Also, if you manage to get into bios, please look at the hardware monitor section and give us the values of the +12V, +5V and the +3.3V. When you start your PC, does everything other than the graphics card seem to be working?

Sadly there is no way of getting into the BIOS nor can I access another PC to try it on. However, I think the problem is that I hadn't uninstalled the old dead GPU's drivers before fitting the new GPU in. I know the new GPU is working since the green light on it is on, is there any way I can uninstall the old drivers without powering on the PC?

Unfortunately, not without being booted into the os. If you have on board graphics, you could remove the card completely and see if it will work using on board. If it will, uninstall the drivers then and try.

I doubt very much that will be the issue, it matters not one bit what drivers are installed before windows starts. You should still be seeing the boot screens regardless of drivers.

I really don't know what to suggest, could be the motherboard or cpu has died but no way to tell without spending money.

I have no idea what to do. At the moment I'm thinking I should just sell off some parts and maybe buy a whole new system.

I'm a late comer to this thread and may have missed something. But, it seems you brgan having this graphics problem after you cleaned the PC and the graphics card. It's quite easy to loosen some wires or not have them completely seated when cleaning. I would go back over the wiring and make sure all the connections are right and completely seated. I offer this as a final check. Other than that, I really have no other suggestions right now. With no extra PC and extra parts it is near impossible to determine which part is nad. A PC repair shop would have all those things.

Checked all the wiring etc. and everything is in place. While Imwas cleaning it, I took out the CPU and too be honest didn't handle it very well, I may of accidently touched one of the pins on there. Could this be the cause?

Most definitely, if a pin was bent then the cpu could be dead and that will give no signal at all.

I killed a CPU in my PC earlier this year, everything powered up but just black screen. My motherboard happens to have lights for each component to highlight if something is wrong and in my case the cpu light was lit up red. I knew it was dead straight away.
For you it is not as easy to determine as you don't have the lights. I would recommend carefully removing the CPU again and looking for bent pins.

And static electricity can also be an issue for most components.

Well, I just checked the CPU and I think I saw some bent pins on the edge of it, where I held it.

Can you take a picture of it and post it on here?

I would expect it to be very obvious. If they were bent a little before you clamped the CPU back into the socket then the pins would not have lined up with the holes and would most likely have been flattened.

I would expect it to be very obvious. If they were bent a little before you clamped the CPU back into the socket then the pins would not have lined up with the holes and would most likely have been flattened.

I can't do it right now unfortunately, I'll see if I can get a image of it tomorrow.

I took the PC to a repair shop and he told me that it's either the CPU or the RAM. I have a strong feeling it's the RAM because before it stopped working I ran a memory test and my PC kept crashing during the test. Do you think it's the RAM?

I got it wrong, there weren't any bent pins, I must of been seeing things since there weren't any when I took it to the shop.

Thing is, if it is the ram then it would be crazy odds for both sticks to fail at the same time. And it should have booted with 1 stick.

Can the RAM sticks be anywhere in the slots or do they have to be in certain slots?

I just installed a brand new stick of RAM without the old ones in and it didn't fix the problem, still no display on the monitor. Do you think it's the CPU?
