Solved Monitor not filling out. 2" black border all around viewscreen

hello, I built my computer just a few days ago and I got a new monitor for it. beforehand i was just using a TV with hdmi compatibility to set up the drivers and all before my monitor was deliviered. once the monitor was delivered I discovered that my view is restricted and there is a 2" black border all around my desktop.

that is, there is about 2" on the sides and 1" on the top and bottom. so my taskbar is about 1" from the normal position at the bottom of my monitor. any insight and advice would be helpful!

My monitor is a samsung s22d300hy

If you're using HDMI with an AMD/ATI card like your specs say you are. Open Catalyst Control Centre and look for the following panel:



Slide the slider all the way to the right to fill the screen.

For some reason, CCC has your monitor underscanned when using HDMI. I don't know what this is, but it happens with most AMD/ATI cards. That setting just has to be set once and then you can forget it.
