More Resources to Programs?

Hello,

I'm running CCleaner on 'wipe free space' at the moment, and it's going to take at least two hours from my calculations. I've got a 1TB hard-disk, so understandably that's a lot of data to overwrite. The thing is that I looked at my resource monitor and it's only using 3% of the CPU and 31% of the total RAM.

I tried setting the process at a higher priority but Windows won't let me change system priorities. I've already spent hours trying to get my folder permissions set-up, and now this. Is there any way that I can get full control over the computer I payed for?

Alternatively, is there any other way that I can allow programs more resources without being hit with "Access Denied. Exterminate! Exterminate!"?

Windows 7 would be excellent were it not for the nannying.

PC specs are in profile if you need them.

Ummm talk to the folks at CCleaner, they are being conservative with resources and Windows cannot fix that. Raising the Priority will have no effect if the application does not take advantage of the hardware. Also before you can change Priorities you must elevate Task Manger, the button bottom left, "Show processes from all users" will do this.

Aaah, showing all users allowed me to raise the priority. Though you're right, it's not made a difference.
So there's no way I can make the program use as much of the computer's available power as possible?

With my old computer it would use 98% of the CPU. Though it was considerably less advanced. I thought it detected what hardware you have and used it to best effect.
