Hi, last night my computer locked-up on turning off, so today I turned on ready to do a systems restore. I know I've done quite a few restore points lately, but imagine my horror when I found all but one had disappeared! Yep, something had deleted all but one restore point! It's not the first time this has happened either. It seems to have been happening ever since I installed Norton 2011. It never happened when I had Norton 360 installed.

Also, this is another bug I've always had trouble with. It's always been hit or miss whether systems restore will fully work, even when using Safe Mode. When it doesn't work I always get the message that the restore has failed to work completely because there's been an unexpected error and the same error code: (0xC0000022)

Normally this wouldn't be much of a problem 'cause I normally juggle around the restore points until it works, but I find it never works if all I've got is one restore point.

Even with the error I find that it does register as a systems restore and that at least some things have been set back. Any ideas as to what could be both deleting my restore points and what the error is, and maybe how I can correct the error?

You need to turn Norton tamper protection off before doing a system Restore. I don't know what is deleting your restore points but I have had this problem after running Defraggler.

Hello.

You may care to have a look at this tutorial at the link below to help you auto-create system restore points whenever needed, the Windows Task Scheduler can even be used to create points daily if the PC isn't restarted that often.

System Restore Point : Create at System Startup

To use the Task Scheduler add this extracted file to "C:\Program Files" then create the task.
   Note

2) To create a restore point without a description click the button below and save the file to the desktop.

Where's that? I've looked but Norton 2011's a bit of a haystack of options and settings.

I Donn't know on N2011 but on N360 its a check box at the top right side of the settings screen. You can chose to turn it off for a period. I generally chose 1 hour. You won't need to turn it back on the SR does that as it restores the settings back to the point in time. You might find that Norton complains after the restore. Just let it do its thing and download the latest definitions.
