I tried to install a patch (for MAX PAYNE 3), and my PC crashed all of a sudden, i think. (it showed the blue screen-"dumping physical memory", and rebooted). Ever since then most of my previously installed programs stopped working. When i press the exe files it shows the "this program has stopped working" dialog box.

Re-installed windows, downloaded Microsoft security essentials and scanned the pc. Things got a little better, but the games still won't work.

One of the games (NFS Most Wanted 2012) showed a different message. It said sth about "Kernel32.dll", so i looked for solutions and cleaned my registry (using "Wise Registry Cleaner"). Tried 2 games that wasn't working before and they worked!

But after 2 days or so, the same errors are showing for the games again!! I scanned the pc and cleaned the registries- but nothing works! What else should i try?

When you re-installed, did you do a Clean Install, formatting the hard drive or did you do a repair install from the booted Windows 7?

I did not repair the existing windows, i formatted the windows drive (C: ), and did a clean install. However, the other drives/partitions were not formatted during the re-installation.

I would have first tried to System Restore from boot using System Recovery Options

Do a diagnostic install following the steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Delete all partitions during Custom install using the Drive Options.

After install get online if necessary providing your LAN driver from the backup. Then only run all Important and Optional Updates, after enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3). After each requested reboot, test the performance to see if the problem exists yet.

Once all rounds of Updates are completed with performance tested after each reboot, start installing programs one by one testing performance again after each is installed.

This way you should be able to pinpoint the problem Update, program or setting. Report back as you go and we will help.
