Wireless not working after trying to add HP Printer to wifi network

So I have wireless internet in my house through an xfinity cable/internet modem. While I was trying to set up my new printer on the wireless network, my wireless stopped working. My computer is showing it has a full signal from my wireless network, however it unable to connect. Also, if I connect my computer via ethernet cable the internet works without a problem. Also, my 3 other roommates can no longer connect to the wireless and nothing was done with their computers. I've tried unplugging the modem and plugging it back in after 30 seconds as recommended, but nothing changed. Please help!

Try turning the wireless printer off and unplug its power cord. If your WIFI comes back it was the printer that is interfering with the router. You will then have to go though the setup again to get everything working. My guess is the printer is using the same IP address that the router wants to use.

I tried doing that a few hours ago. The printer wasn't even able to connect either. I ran a diagnostic on the wireless network and it said there was an error in the "authentication" but I was unable to resolve this issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I cannot express my gratitude enough in your attention to my problem.

Connect a PC to the router via a network cable. Then log into the router and verify your SSID and wireless password matches what is entered on your PC's. If it matches but your WIFI still won't work on your PC, you could delete your network from the list of preferred networks and set it up again. As a last resort you could reset the router to factory defaults and setup your wireless from scratch.

EDIT: I just want to confirm that you unplugged the printer from the wall? I just setup an wireless HP Laserjet P1102w and even though it looks like its off (no lights on) it is still on and I can log into its status page.

You might want to consider updating your router's firmware by downloading it from the manufacturer's site. Test your wireless connectivity after. If that didn't help then proceed with the reset to the factory default then reconfigure everything again ad previously suggested by alphanumeric.

I'd only upgrade the firmware as a last resort. Even though your wireless isn't working I'm still going to mention that you should not flash your routers firmware over a wireless connection. You could brick your router if you do.

I have had the printer unplugged and it hasn't made a difference. The internet connection does work with when connected with an ethernet cable. I just double checked the ssid and the network key, everything appears to be correct as to the best of my knowledge. I've also tried deleting the network and setting it up again and when i do that it still cannot connect to the network. It appears that i'll have to reconfigure the entire set up. any idea as to how i do that or possibly of any tutorials out there on the web explaining how to do this.

Yeah, thats cool, I didn't mean any disrespect, just my 2 cents worth. It might come down to flashing the router, it just wouldn't be at the top of my list of things to try. Usually, a firmware flash will reset it back to factory defaults and the OP may not want to do that just yet.

The short answer is, log into the router, go to the wireless section and enter your SSID (network name) set your encryption, I would recommend WPA2, and your encryption key (WIFI password). Then match those settings on your PC's. I'll have a look in the tutorials section and post a link if I find something.

EDIT: If your router came with a CD, check that for a setup utility. I don't use them myself but some people find it an easy way to setup the router. The utility logs in for you and all you have to do is fill in the blanks.

Mission accomplished!! I logged into the router and found that somehow that the network key had somehow become changed to some ridiculously long sequence of random numbers and letters. Needless to say I changed that and the problem was fixed. I really appreciate all of the help, I can't thank you enough, I never would have been able to get anywhere without your help.
