I've done this before, but can't remember how to now. I have a folder which contains the contents of a CD. I'd like to run this cd without actually burning this img to a cd. I know there's away to use magiciso to run the files as if from a cd without requiring burning the image. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Greetings. I use a program called AnytoISO. With any of these programs for mounting ISO images all you have to do is open the program. Drag the ISO image/ program you downloaded into the programs loading area & press the convert button. When this is complete you can then open the location of the converted file & then install from there.
Hope this helps

There are plenty of apps, including free burning programs, that will let you create a disc and save it as an .iso file. Once you do that, it can be loaded into a virtual CD drive app.

Thank you all so much for the prompt responses. As I've mentioned before, this forum is incredible. Everyone is eager to help. thank you.

So, I will need to conver the contents to an iso and then just mount it in a virtual drive? Is that the basic idea?

If the folder has the extracted files of an ISO, then you may be able to just run Setup.

Otherwise use ImgBurn to recompile them into an ISO to either burn or mount using PowerISO.

If you want to say what app it is that you want to run or install, someone here will likely know specifically how to do it best.

I was able to get it to work. As easy as right-clicking and mounting virtually.

Had another question. If I want to burn a DVD files/image to a physical DVD so that I can watch it on my TV with the menus and all, what do I need to do to make sure it burns as a video. (hope my question wasnt too confusing)

Thanks a lot.

Google the format (example: .avi) to see how to convert it to burn to DVD. There are free converters.

It may not even require conversion if there is a media player that plays that format. Just google to ask, drawing from all of the world's knowledge.

DVDs are MPEGs not AVIs ;) If you have the DVD structure (.ifos and .vobs) in a folder there is no need to convert. In cases like that I would grab DVDShrink write the whole DVD structure to an ISO image (~10minutes) which then I burn to DVD with Burnaware free. But nowadays every burn program can handle ISO images.
If you want to convert AVI MKV OGG WMP FLV and what else there is, that's a lil more complicated.
If your DVD player has build in codecs, then you can burn the clips simply as data.
If not you have to convert everything into a DVD structure first, create a menu and go from there. I used to do that with DVDLab Pro (that's not free but supports multiple soundtracks) a 30 day trial you can get from HERE. If you don't need all the extra features you might want to look into WinDVD Creator Platinum another 30day trial.

If it's about free programs you might want to check out DVD Flick and DVD Styler
