Is there any reason why my laptop's pointer sometimes just click and scrolls on its own? Most of the time it doesnt, but sometimes, if my pointer is on a button (close, submit, etc), it automatically clicks it. i am sure that there is nothing pressing the left mouse buttons (the built in ones and the actual mouse i sometimes use) when it happens, so what is going on? the only things in the mouse setting that i have changed is the speed of the pointer, not the double-click speed or anything else.

Hmm... Interesting... that might be true, since at least 1 other person I know is having similar problems. ive disabled remote connections and remote desktop. i'll wait and see what happens. why would anyone want to mess with my computer? I go to a college, not a weird company that tracks your every move. my laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad T410 and no, i have not reinstalled my drivers, how would i do that? i dont have my "real" mouse with me, so i dont want the trackpoint/touchpad to not work at the same time while reinstalling

I woz kicked out of skool @ 16 :)

How about this - switch off "speech recognition"

Other normal thing to do, is just try loading other drivers made for similar but different mice/pc tabs - normally works as a stop gap.

its not enabled (i just checked), so it shouldnt be affecting anything. ive also turned off tapping the pad, but its not helping. i think i'll just go get the laptop fixed or get a replacement. it has too many problems (besides this).

they are unrelated (i hope):

i got 2 blue screens in less than a week (not bsod, but sort of like kernel failures or something. theres nothing in the errors folder, since i clean the garbage from my computer almost every day)

the computers is getting very hot despite not running anything close to intensive. i only ran super pi twice on 1mb

movies freeze up randomly. i dont know if thats the graphics card or bad ram, or i virus i once had (i actually found a trojan when i scanned the laptop the day i got it, before i installed anything/connected any storage drive)

and some programs change setting by themselves before being installed. somehow, when i was trying to install ms visual c++, the compatibility settings changed, not letting me install. yet everyone around me could

my batteries are already dying even though i dont charge until i have around 5-7% left

As for the battery, you shouldn't let it get that low. Letting it fall below 40% puts extra stress on the battery, and kills it faster.

It sounds to me like you have a overheating problem, and that heat has damaged other components. Remember, the worst enemy of electronics, is heat.
