I left my computer on for about half an hour whilst I went downstairs to do something , when I came back I had found my monitor had turned off and the power button light for it was flashing. The computer was still on but it hadn't slept. I'm not sure of the settings I had it set to but I tried to wake it by moving the mouse and pressing the keyboard however it still didn't respond so I turned it off manually by holding the power button.

When I turned it on again , the same thing happened , the mouse and keyboard were unresponsive and the monitor light kept flashing . I thought at first it was just my mouse so I unplugged it and tried a different port , still didn't work. I tried every available port on my computer and the mouse didn't work . I tried it on another computer and the mice and keyboard worked there so I knew it was a problem with my PC.

I unplugged everything , removed the cover on my case and pretty much cleared the dust out using my air blower, turned on the comp again and the fans were running fine , GPu fan was running and so were the other fans. No beeps from the computer either. Not really sure what's going on but I really hate to say this but I think it could be a hardware problem. PC is not overclocked.

Specs:
Asus p5q-e mb
Corsair hx 850w psu
Ocz reaper 4gb mem(?)
Win 7 ultimate 64 bit
Intel core 2 quad e9500 (?) @ 2.5ghz
ATI FireGL 5600 (?)

Almost forgot , when I unplugged it from the wall and plugged it back in then turned on my comp , it turned on for a few seconds then turned off , then on again.
Any help appreciated.

I agree; system restore; is probably a good bet at this point and hopefully(assuming no errors etc) it will return it to the way it was prior to this happening.

Also have a pretty bad speaker setup which is a klipsch promedia 5.1 surround speaker setup with huge subwoofer and lg blu ray player/writer. Also a hp officejet pro 8600 plus wireless all in one and a logitech s7500 webcam.
I don't think I can do a system restore , comps pretty much unusable and I don't think I had it set up in the first place.

Sorry about that. I forgot the monitor wasn't working. That needs to be the first order of business to find out why it doesn't work. Do you have another monitor that you could plug into? == Maybe take your cover off again and make sure the Video Card is seated OK, same with RAM. Just check things and reboot.

Yeah I have two spare monitors in my room , I'll try using them and see what happens. I'll also check the mb inside.

Turns out Spare monitors I have aren't supported by my card . I opened the case and checked everything inside and it seemed ok. I turned it back on but the same result . I think this is a hardware problem since none of the devices attatched to the pc seem to work. Whenever I plug in the mouse into a port , the red light underneath flashes once. It doesn't flash again when the pc is on. Everytime the plug is taken off the wall then out back in , Everytime that happens and I turn on the pc it starts then turns off then on again. Isn't that post failure?

It makes things hard when the monitor doesn't work. It limits what you can do.

id put my money on the mobo having died. its true it could be a psu issue, but you normally tend to get signs, instability ect. the fact that the pc boots but no image is displayed and they usb ports arent working all point in the same direction.
