Mouse seems to cycle through moving down-left, working, and stopping

I recently opened my Aula Ghost Shark gaming mouse, and it didn't work at first. Later, after being plugged in for quite some time, idle, it started working. After not too long, the mouse suddenly moved down and left regardless of input, and would only move slightly before jutting back to my start button (not locking to it, just moving to the corner). After trying some more fixes, such as System Restore, Troubleshooter, and disabling/enabling the mouse with the Control Panel in and out of Safe Mode, I realized this:

My mouse will work (occasionally, but certainly not guaranteed by simply turning the mouse driver on and off), but only on what seems to be a timer. It will work, then move down and left harshly, then stop. I assume it stops because it does at times when I start the computer, I can't see it at the bottom left of my screen.

Any help is very much appreciated and I'm happy to answer any questions to help clarify what my situation is!

Oh, I didn't take it apart, I just opened it as in its casing, since it wasn't new...
Sorry for the confusion!

ok you mean took it out of the package it came in? did you install the driver for the mouse? it should still work with the standard windows driver though. could be the mouse is faulty. have you tried it on another computer?

I installed the included drivers for the mouse, but I haven't tried it on another computer yet. I'll go do that now.

I just tried it on my brother's computer using Ubuntu. The buttons were the only thing that worked, as they are when all else stops on this computer, and it was still solid green backlit, so some settings stayed with it. My brother theorized that it was a problem with the mouse's laser, as it wasn't really projecting one, but it doesn't even in the short bursts when it functions properly...
