Unless the mouse is moving nothing happens on screen.

If I do a Google search the scroll wheel has no effect unless I move the mouse, a real pain, when you turn the wheel a couple of times and then move the mouse it zips down to where you would have been if everything was working correctly.

Right click, no context menu until the mouse is moved, etc, etc, etc.

All updated, Device Manager says latest drivers are in, tried 2 different mice both of which work fine on my other computer.

Thanks in advance for any help or even hints as to the problem, I'm a win 7 newbie.

Hmmm. Odd problem...

First of all, download and run Malwarebytes, and SuperAntispyware to make sure that you don't have a malware infection:

Malwarebytes | Free Anti-Malware Detection & Removal Software

SUPERAntiSpyware - AntiAdware. AntiSpyware. AntiMalware.

Once you've done that we can see if there is something else the matter.

You're also at the minimum memory limit for 64 bit Windows 7. This will definitely affect performance, and may be helping to cause the problem you're experiencing. You should consider getting at least 4 GB of RAM for the system to run optimally.

Thanks, I had run several malware scanners earlier but had not run SAS so I just did, it came up with a dozen tracking cookies that the others had missed but no change with the problem.

I'm seriously thinking of putting a copy of XP Pro into this machine. It's a refurbished computer that came with W7 Pro and I was hoping to get it to work right.

Any other suggestions?

Sorry this is taking so long, I had to continually move the mouse while it was updating MSE. It's a funny thing about the machine as it runs programs the way is should with no problem, games run great and the scan itself is doing fine.

I'll get back as soon as I can. Thanks

There's nothing amiss with the MGADiag report. It's typical for a machine bought with Vista installed and upgraded using the frre upgrade media.

Thank you people, thou I'm not really sure what that means. I doubt that it rules out a software or a hardware problem.

As for Panda, yes, I followed your suggestion, went to the Panda site and downloaded the uninstaller (they hide it just about as well as McAfee hides theirs). Downloaded MSE from your link then used Geek Uninstaller on Panda followed by their uninstaller. Everything seemed to go well the delay being the updating of MSE.

I'm not really sure what is causing your problem. What I'm trying to do eliminate things.
If you are using USB ports. Use only USB 2.0 ports. Some have posted on other sites that the ports along the same line your internet cable goes (Cat5) is the ports the USB mouse should be plugged in.

I'm also it might be the fact you computer has only 2 gigs of ram with Windows 7/64.
If things are running in the background using all the ram most everything will be slow or delayed.

Some pictures would help me understand better.

Use this tutorial by Brink to post pictures from your system.

You surly have a short supply of ram.
Unchecking all those things except MSE should help. Then reboot.
In my opinion their isn't much you can do with the hardware you have.
Windows 7/64 will run with 2 gigs of ram but it will run poorly.

It would help a little. You don't show your motherboard in your system specs.
Check your motherboard and see if you can add ram.
If you can adding more ram would be my choice.
