Move location of Macrium image XML files?

Hi. Been using macrium for imaging.

I just noticed that the default location for the xml files it creates with each image is on my C:.... My Documents/Reflect.
I always just let it choose until I came to the image, which is on an external drive.

Should these be on my external drive, and can I move them safely so they will be recognized, in case my C: fails?

In other words, can I move them and Macrium will find them? Do I have to do a step after I move them?

In my case I don't have Macrium create the XML files. I have restored images without them. Others more wise may chime in on what their use is.

XML files can be editted using notepad. They contain info about what to backup and to which location.
Why move to external disk?

I use the xml files to run incremental and differential backups. All I have to do is right click on the appropriate xml file and select either differential or incremental.

As far as relocating the xml files goes, I've never done it but I did a little nosing around and it appears you can do so when Macrium Reflect asks you for the name of a new xml file.

I see no advantage or disadvantage to having them on the same external disk that the backups are on (someone correct me if I'm wrong) as long as there is room for them but I can see the advantage of not having them on the C: drive if all it has are the OS and programs, especially if it's a bit on the small size.

The restore process doen't use the XML files they are just used for saving the definition of your backups so that you can easily run them again. They are only small files so there is no need to move them.

Good point. I just took a peek at my xml file folder and, with six xml files in it, it takes up a whopping 42.8 KB; not enough to worry about.

Thanks, I wasn't quite certain as to how important they were. I have plenty of room for them.
