Moved folders still show up

I have a problem that just started about 2 weeks ago. I upload lots of photos to the web for my job. Once I complete a job I move each folder with the photos into it to a different folder. This keeps my active photo folder clean.

About 2 weeks ago I tried to move my completed folders and I got a "folder is in use by another program" error and it would not move. Eventually after a restart I moved it. Now I have the problem of these already moved and even deleted folders still showing up in their original location.

They ONLY show up when browsing my computer to select the files for upload. They do not show up when exploring my computer for the files. I would imaging it is some type of registry problem but I have no idea how to fix it.

I did 2 restores, including the earliest point on the list 9/17/10. This did not fix the problem.

Any other suggestions?

Hello Joe, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Go ahead and do the "browse to select a file" from something, but navigate to the location of where these ghosts files are at. Next, right click on them and click on Delete to see if that will remove them for you while in this browse window.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Yes that does work but it is a little annoying to have to delete the "ghost" folders after I have already moved them out of that folder.

I agree with that. Not sure what causes it exactly, but it appears to happen randomly sometimes when you get the "in use" error when trying to move or delete them.

I'm happy to hear that they are gone now. :)

So I have done some more troubleshooting and have discovered this problem is related specifically to Internet Explorer. I downloaded the Google Chrome browser and in that upload window the old folders do not show up. I removed IE8 from my computer but obviously it is not being completely removed because as soon as I re-installed it the old folders still show up. And to be clear, this is a problem that happens every time now when I create and then move or delete the folders on a daily basis, it is not just a few old ones--it happens for EVERY folder I create. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Registry keys that need changed?? Is there a cache somewhere I can delete?

I also tried the IE9 beta, they show up in that upload window as well.
