Howdy!

Have an interesting problem that in 30 years of being a computer guy I have never encountered-(started in 1989 and have worked with every MS OS/server since DOS 5.0/3.1).

Win 7 Professional fully updated. Deleted 2 music folders but they are still showing. Attempt to delete them and get error message saying: "Could not find item. This is no longer located in [location]. Verify the item's location and try again." Refresh and reboot to no avail.

It appears there are music files in them but when I open the folder and click on them I get the error message that the directory is invalid. File size is 0 bytes.

Have tried numerous command line deletes as admin but no go.

Checked attributes, attempted rename, dragging to recycle, dragging to desktop yadda yadda yadda-getting the same message(s) as above. sfc did not find anything.

This old dog needs to be taught a new trick lol.

TIA

Unfortunately, get "404 (Page Not Found) Error" when going to the download links. Has not been updated since 2013 so it may be abandonware.

But thank-you for the suggestion. Will look for a similar program.

Thank-you!

It did not even cross my mind to try that. As a matter of fact, a friend runs Knoppix USB and was I seriously impressed. Although certainly not a guru, worked briefly with AT&T ( years ago) and find *nix OS's a pleasant change.

Out of town this coming week but will report back.

Regards,

~WG~

I've always deleted invalid folders and files with CMD. Just go to the location where the file/folder is and use Shift + right click > Open command window here. Then if the thing you're trying to delete is a file, you must use del [filename]. If you're trying to delete a folder, you must use rmdir [foldername]. Simple as that, it always worked for me.

UPDATE: Am on the road but got a text from GF with a screen shot attached.

Booted computer this morning and folders are GONE.

>.< [shrug]

THANK-YOU for all the input.

I think I stick around here. It's obvious this very old dog can learn some new tricks and (so far at least) really enjoying the community.
