Moving hard drive to new motherboard, any advice?

I have a hard drive with Windows 7 and lots of data on it (it's my current computer). I'm upgrading to a different motherboard and would like to know what I should do software/driver wise to prepare for the HDD transfer... Should I uninstall all the drivers so Windows 7 can detect all the new hardware from the new motherboard?

And yes, the hard drive is 100% compatible with the new motherboard.

Any advice is appreciated.

So do I follow this tutorial, re-build PC with new motherboard and then just start up as normal?

Hi Rbeasley, welcome to the Seven Forums.

That's the idea. Replacing other components but keeping the HDD with Windows installed on it, use Method One on that tutorial.

Please read the activation warning in the beginning of the tutorial and create backups before proceeding.

If it was me, I'd just do a fresh install. It won't take any longer than these transfer processes, and the end result will be a better overall system. You'll want to have your data backed up before doing the transfer as well, so the drive would be ready for a fresh install.
