MSE-MsMpEng.exe

You say that MSE ran good on your machine, yet now isn't. I can't really compare, because MSE didn't run well on either of my machines. All that I can say is that I'm running OutPost Security Suite, which includes both firewall and AV, and I like it. The only reason that I tried MSE is because that a number of forum members like it and have often recommended it, so I had to give it a try.

You say that MSE ran good on your machine, yet now isn't.

Uh,maybe it sounds so,but you probably didn't understand.
I am really satisfified with MSE,and a way it does its job,fast,smooth,clear,but...
There is that one "but" with that bug from time to time.Prolly we didn't understood each other.
I said that ocassionally I have a problem with it when it's CPU usage jump to 80-90%,and it lasts for while, not for hour or two,but rather for 10 or 15 minutes, and that is ocassionally and not normal state, and it does not happen like 20 times a day, rather say few times at week. But still, when I do something and my CPU went crazy,I'm going crazy too,and that's not the way I want my PC behaves when I need it the most.
So,if changing the antivirus is the only way I'll get my PC "behave",then I'll do it.
Tough it won't be because I'm not satisfied with way how MSE does its job, then because of bug which causes that one of MSE's processes,MsMpEng.exe, ocassionally goes crazy from time to time, and that is usually when MSE doesn't do its job.
So,now I'll give a try with some of those security suites, why not outpost,if I know somebody is already satisfied with it.

The only thing controversial about OSS is that it uses the Virus Buster engine, which some say is not as good as the leaders in the field. I really don't know, because I have only had a virus on the PC once, years ago, and that was because that a numbskull developer came to a forum that I once frequented and asked the members to try out his new game. I may have been the first to do so, because the AV that I was using at the time, started screaming the minute that I attempted to start the game (actually, it was the second that I started to install the game). The AV got rid of it quickly, but I posted a warning in the forum about it anyway.

I guess the point is, that the primary reason that I use any AV is because everybody believes that I should. If I were in a position that I felt more vulnerable that I do, I might pick a higher rated AV than OSS. but since I have a lifetime license to both the firewall and AV, I'm not very likely to do so soon.

EDIT: Another good thing about OSS, is that it has a training feature, that you can set to run for a week after installation, which automatically creates rules for all of your apps, so the only thing during that period is that a window pops up for a moment alerting you to what it is doing. Once it settles in, you rarely are aware of it...with one little exception, it pops a window every time that Agnitum has a news message to display, and sometimes even when it doesn't. That can be solved by changing the permissions on 3 files in the news folder to read only.

Thanks on your review. That kind of review, not a professional review for an expert but a short and simple review from an average user to average user, worths much, much more than 1000 words.
I'll give a try, probably there is some 14 days or a month trial.
Thanks on your effort once again.
Cheers
