I think it's finally under control, I have been running stable three whole days now! I tightened the screws that fix the CPU heatsing to the motherboard and the backplate underneath it, and the screws did have a lot of give. The whole thing seems pretty logical when I think back to it - the bsods got worse after I checked the RAM sticks, which reguired some manhandling of the massive CPU heatsink. I'll try putting the system under some heavy stress soon, and see if all of the problems are gone, but in the meantime, I think the problem is pretty much fixed. Anyway, thank you for all of your help in the past weeks!
