I am looking for an easy to use tool which expands my desktop to a larger virtual screen. I have evaluated many different programs.
All the ones which I found use hot keys and switching mechanisms to choose between different virtual screens.
What I am looking for is something which is similar to rvd.exe (reflection virtual desktops) which came with older versions of ReflectionX. Of course it should run on w7 preferrable x64.
Rvd simply created a large screen area e.g. in a 3x4 matrix and the actual screen was just one tile of this matrix.
The overview window sat on every tile, it could be positioned and resized freely and the matrix could be defined to your liking.
There was no need for hotkeys or to fumble around in a menu of a tray icon.
You could easily drag windows from one tile to the other in the overview window and you could also have windows appear partly on one tile and partly on another. To switch to another virtual desktop you just clicked on the desired tile.
You could make the overview window stay on top or bring it to front by clicking on its taskbar entry.
This scheme makes it very flexible and easy to use.
Does anybody know a virtual desktop manager which behaves like rvd as described above?

i find dexpot to be the best out of all available products. It works on 7x64 too and has some nice plugins for integration with the taskbar/active previews. If you manage to find anything better, I'm interested also! :)

I have rvd.exe if you still need it

I have this from a CD and still use this. I think it is still best on out there. Contact me if you want me to get it to you and the attachment does not work.
