My computer is not using all of it's ram, 1.73gb of ram out of 4.00gb

Hey guys, recently I got my new computer from my cousin and downgraded from 8gb of ram to 4gb of ram (Because the other motherboard had 2 x 2 x 2 x 2, and this one only has two slots so I'm going 2x2.) Here is a picture:







Can anybody help me resolve this problem? It sucks loading everything since it's so slow, and it's hard to play video games as well.

Welcome to the forums. Could you please post your system spec.'s? They would help greatly in finding out what may be wrong.

First are you sure the memory is seated properly? What all do you have running in/on this machine? You should be seeing about 2 gigs more than is usable. That AMD cpu could be using it for graphics.

You have to look at resource monitor to see what`s going on with the memory. I`m sure it`s all being used.

In addition I would also re-seat the RAM sticks. Then check in BIOS to be sure all 4GB are recognized there.

The integrated graphics has commandeered some RAM for it's own as AddRAM stated, but it looks like you are missing a full 2GB after that.

Have you checked to see if the ram you swapped matches the specs needed for your new motherboard? All ram doesn't work with all motherboards.
