Solved My Documents won't open when I hit any "Browse" option.

Lehnerus2000,

I ran the system file checker, and it did correct some files, so I rebooted, but the problem still persists.

Thanks,
MrStelth

REMOVAL OF P2P PROGRAMS

There are signs of one or more P2P (Peer to Peer) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

As long as you are using any form of P2P networking to download files, you can anticipate malware infestations.

References citing the risk of using P2P programs:

I strongly recommend that you uninstall:
µTorrent
Vuze
===================================
As long as you have either or both or those two programs installed, then you will have problems. The questionis not IF but rather WHEN.

You may need to run it several times. :)

Use a VM, or a Live Linux CD, for your torrent programs (if you really need them).

Karl,

I've uninstalled all of the above programs, disabled all scheduled tasks, and unchecked all startup options except for synaptics. Rebooted after each.

Lehnerus2000,

I've ran the check a couple more times, but since the first check it has said that there are no problems.

But I have created a new profile on the computer and given it admin access. I do not have the problem on that profile, though. It can save, it pulls up the documents, attaches email attachments, etc. Would it be feasible to delete my main profile and just use this secondary profile as my main, as long as I give it admin access?

If it fixed the problem you can certainly do that. Once you've migrating the things from one profile to the other you can delete the profile through the "system" control panel and click advanced system settings, the advanced tab, then profiles. Otherwise doing it manually you'd run into permission crap.

There is also a migration wizard you can use if you'd like, just type in "migration" in the start menu search.

Stelth,
Here is a much safer approach that mitigate progress when you use a migration wizard.

A profile has profile folders.

There are programs to move your profile folders.
We probably have a tutorial on same.

I'm a brute force guy.
When you created the new profile, then you will see folders there such as documents, music, pictures, contacts, etc.
Copy the contents of the corresponding folders from your old profile to the new profile.
After copying a folder over, then you can delete the contents of the old folder. Do not delete the folder, just the contents.

After that, take a look at \users\xyzz where xyzz is the name of your old profile.
Copy over anything there that you want under your new profile.

After copy then you can delete the folder and contents.

This is much work but is, in my opinion surer than using a wizard.

One think you do want to do is to empty out the old user profile as much as possible before removing the old profile.

As I said, I'm rather brute-force on this mattter and there are smoother approaches.

Well, the new profile is up and running just fine, just need a little more customization, but that will come a bit later.
Thanks for all of your help guys!

p.s. Do I mark this thread as solved now?
