My first attempt @ skype - no mike

Just installed skype. Other party cannot hear me yet mike tests OK here - e.g. sound recorder hears me & playback is fine.

Go to options in Skype and select the correct one. Then use the echo sound test and see if you hear yourself OK.

Skype no sound?

Well it's a long time since I used Skype so my advice on settings (from memory) would be useless. However I do have a couple of thoughts.

Are you using skype for phone calls? If so dial your own phone or mobile phone and test sound until you get it working.

Using Skpe for cam? Maybe if you both have Firefox 35+ or a Firefox 35+ variant you could try "Hello" as an alternative. It works for me using Cyberfox!

Edit: Actually just Mic if you only want to talk.

I had this problem. I went into Audio Manager and mics and noticed that the onboard laptop mic was highlighted,

Went down to usb external mic and made this default and lo and behold it works now!
