My connection goes to Off Line very frequently and I have to cancel it to get back online. Any thoughts as to what may be going on?

JPK,
Welcome to 7 Forums and sorry to hear about your disconnect problem.
Who is your ISP provider and is this a recent issue with your connection?
I would check you cables to the internet as a starting point.
Post back and let us know.
THW

Hi jpk welcome to Sevenforums :)

Can you please open command prompt and type:
Code:
ipconfig /all

Post back the results.

What sort of connection is it? Do you connect via a router? or do you have a Modem?

My ISP is AT&T. My cables are fine. I believe it is a software.driver conflict issue of some sort. It happens more frequently when photos are opened on a web site. I go frequently to Digital Photo Review and that site seems to be particularly sensitive to it.

JPK,
I use AT&T also. When I first got it I had a similar experience with them.
I called and got a tech come to my home and replaced modem and checked all lines coming in.
Found it to be a faulty box where it came into my home.
Give AT&T a call and see what they can do for you.

So your internet has worked properly before(without disconnects)?
Are you able to pinpoint a period where it had worked properly?

I never had a connectivity issue like this until a couple of months ago. When I'm OL I never use a 3rd party viewer that is installed on my machine to view photos. I do have Canon's photo viewer program installed but that has been on my machine for years and I've never had a problem with it. I also have Picasa and it has also been on my machine long before I had an issue with connectivity. I am hard wired to a wireless router which is then hard wired to the modem into the wall jack. My modem seems to be working ok.

Have you tried power-cycling your router? Unplug, wait 30 seconds, re-plug. Power-cycling should force the router to reset and restart from a known good state.

Done that several times. Not the router. Wife's lappy works fine wirelessly without the connectivity issues I have.
